Every Summer Has A Story

Every Summer Has A Story - Kristie Jean Photography

It is kind of weird feeling when you finish something you have been working on for months. I don’t know if I can quite describe the feeling of finally getting to hit that export button. There is so much excitement, a feeling of accomplishment, and maybe a twinge of sadness that you no longer have it to work on. There is relief that you can move on to other projects, and at the same time you want to run around screaming letting everyone know that you are FINALLY finished.

I knew I would be shooting a lot this summer with my friend, and fellow photographer, Melody moving to town and I wanted something to work towards rather than just snapping photos that would sit on an external hard drive and collect dust. I loved the idea of creating a magazine, of being able to have a printed copy of my photos and stories.

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”

That quote kinds of sums up my summer. It is not like I got to go to all these amazing, exotic places. For the most part I stayed close to home. The summer was about finding the fun in the mundane, finding photos in something that you have seen a hundred times before. The reason I love photography is because you can freeze moments and capture memories and shooting for this magazine reminded me of that. I can easily say this was one of the best summers ever.

Every summer has a story and this magazine is full of mine.

Check out the magazine on Magcloud here.

P.S. I had to add this photo in here, she says she is my human tripod, really though she is just the best mom ever. She proofread the magazine for me and helped with the photos for this post.
